Job Title: Cleanroom Cleaning Technician (Janitorial Worker)

Job Description

The Cleanroom Cleaning Technician plays a key role in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and contamination control within highly regulated cleanroom and support areas. Working in a controlled manufacturing environment, you perform routine and scheduled cleaning tasks in accordance with site procedures, safety standards, and cleanroom contamination-control requirements. This position requires strong attention to detail, consistency, and the ability to follow written cleaning schedules while supporting daily production operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleanroom cleaning activities, including vacuuming, sticky rolling, trash removal, and cleaning gowning rooms, locker rooms, airlocks, cleanroom floors, and support areas.
• Maintain cleanroom entry and gowning areas by removing trash, cleaning floors, using sticky rollers, removing layers from sticky mats, and keeping mats straight, undamaged, and properly positioned.
• Clean and wipe down high-touch and assigned surfaces such as doors, door frames, handles, stainless-steel benches, computer desks, chairs, tables, power cords, racks, bins, carts, crates, glove storage containers, and cleanroom equipment surfaces.
• Support contamination-control efforts by vacuuming or sticky rolling cleanroom floors, clean-side gowning areas, boxing airlocks, incoming airlocks, support areas, and small parts rooms, including edges, corners, vent areas, and other hard-to-reach areas.
• Collect and dispose of garbage from cleanrooms, gowning rooms, locker rooms, and assigned support areas in accordance with site waste-handling expectations.
• Maintain assigned cleaning equipment and storage areas by checking vacuum hoses, changing vacuum bags, emptying trash receptacles, and keeping the mop closet clean, safe, and organized.
• Perform weekly, monthly, and quarterly cleaning tasks, including mopping floors, walls, and ceilings; deep-cleaning airlock floors; wiping down vents; cleaning windows and airlock doors; and supporting scheduled equipment cleaning rotations.
• Clean assigned equipment and machine areas by wiping exterior surfaces, vacuuming accessible areas, removing particulates from machines and totes, and cleaning around cable tie machines and cutting areas.
• Identify visible particulates, damaged mats, clogged equipment, or areas requiring maintenance support, and promptly notify the appropriate team when issues are found.
• Support scheduled deep-clean activities, including quarterly major machine cleaning where maintenance lockout procedures are required.
• Follow all applicable safety, cleanroom, gowning, and site procedures while working in controlled environments.
• Adhere to safety standards, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), company operating procedures, and policies at all times.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records as tasks are being performed, ensuring completeness and compliance.
• Participate in Practical Process Improvements (PPI) and other continuous improvement initiatives to enhance cleaning processes and efficiency.
• Work effectively to consistently meet goals both as an individual contributor and as part of a team.
• Focus on personal development through timely completion of required training and proactive learning.
• Adhere to the work schedule to support production goals while maintaining a strong focus on the quality of work.
• Work in a production environment where you may support manufacturing activities such as operating machinery, assembling tubing and connectors, packaging, and inspecting product in accordance with product blueprints and manufacturing drawings while following company SOPs and work instructions.
• Use tools and equipment such as computers, calculators, measuring tools, assembly hand tools, bioprocess container machinery, and pallet jacks as needed.
• Use strong attention to detail to ensure products and cleaned areas meet quality standards by cooperating with upstream and downstream stations, implementing mutual inspection, identifying and correcting quality issues, and recording and reporting problems in a timely manner.
• Record accurate documentation in Production Control Documents (PCD) and other required logs as tasks are performed.
• Actively participate in Lean, Practical Process Improvements (PPI), Continuous Improvement, and 5S activities to maintain an organized and efficient work area.
• Effectively work as part of a manufacturing team, assisting with training and mentoring co-workers when needed.
• Demonstrate reliability and consistency in performing repetitive tasks while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and contamination control.

Essential Skills

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Prior experience in cleaning, janitorial work, or housekeeping in a professional setting.
• Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and strictly follow cleanroom personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, including face mask, full-body suit, gloves, hair net, booties, and related attire.
• Ability to remain on your feet for the majority of the shift and perform repetitive tasks.
• Capability to lift and handle items weighing 25 pounds or more as part of daily duties.
• Strong attention to detail to identify particulates, damaged equipment, and cleanliness issues in controlled environments.
• Ability to follow written cleaning schedules, standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and cGMP requirements.
• Comfort working with cleaning equipment such as vacuums, sticky rollers, mops, and related tools in a production setting.
• Basic ability to use tools and equipment such as computers, calculators, measuring tools, assembly hand tools, bioprocess container machinery, and pallet jacks.
• Ability to accurately record documentation in Production Control Documents and other logs while tasks are being performed.
• Strong teamwork skills, including the ability to cooperate with upstream and downstream stations and support mutual inspection processes.
• Commitment to safety, contamination control, and adherence to site procedures and company policies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a cleanroom or other controlled manufacturing environment is highly beneficial.
• Familiarity with Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and cleanroom contamination-control requirements.
• Experience with Practical Process Improvements (PPI), Lean, Continuous Improvement, or 5S activities.
• Ability to identify maintenance needs and communicate issues clearly to the appropriate support teams.
• Comfort with repetitive tasks while maintaining focus on quality and accuracy.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain clean and orderly equipment storage and mop closets.
• Willingness to participate in ongoing training and personal development to support career growth.
• Ability to assist with training and mentoring co-workers in cleaning procedures and best practices.

Work Environment

You work in a controlled cleanroom production environment that requires strict adherence to contamination-control and safety procedures. Cleanroom PPE is mandatory and includes items such as a bunny suit, hair net, gloves, booties, and face mask, with no make-up, jewelry, cologne, or perfume allowed to maintain cleanliness standards. The role involves being on your feet for most of the shift, performing repetitive cleaning and inspection tasks, and lifting items weighing 25 pounds or more. You use a variety of tools and equipment, including vacuums, sticky rollers, mops, computers, calculators, measuring tools, assembly hand tools, bioprocess container machinery, and pallet jacks. The schedule is Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm, working closely with production teams in a structured environment that follows cGMP, SOPs, and detailed work instructions.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Logan, UT.

The pay range for this position is $17.60 - $17.60/hr.
